School Uniform and Equipment
Uniform Requirements
Through our uniform we aim to promote a ‘feel smart – think smart’ ethos. To achieve this we believe uniform should be worn in a way which avoids adornments and extremes of fashion.
All the items below are required items.
Uniform:
- Navy blue blazer with gold trim and school badge.
- School tie with white shirt, and either:
- Traditional black trousers or black skirt (maximum 2″ or 5cm above the knee) or
- Navy blue or black shalwar kameez worn with tie and with or without plain black or navy blue hijab (head scarf).
- Black shoes (heel no more than 2″ or 5cm).
All the items below are optional items:
- School navy blue V neck sweater with gold trim and school badge
In cold weather students are advised to wear a blue V neck sweater with the school badge, under your blazer - hooded/sports tops or similar items are not acceptable.
Ties:
Year 7 and 8 students wear maroon ties.
Year 9-11 wear navy house ties.
Ties can be purchased online from SWI or from school via ParentPay.
PE* and Dance Kit:
(all PE kit should be clearly labelled with the student's name)
- Navy blue school branded fleece.
- School branded or non branded navy blue polo shirt
- School branded or non branded navy blue bottoms:
- Trackpants or
- Shorts or
- Skort or
- Sports Leggings
- Sports trainers
All the items below are optional items:
- Burgundy long socks
- School branded bottoms
Shin pad are encouraged to be worn for hockey and football, and gum shields encouraged for rugby and hockey.
Branded sportswear is not allowed and hoodies are not permitted.
Cycling shorts are not permitted
Hair should always be tied up and jewellery taken off for PE and Dance
Other items:
Outdoor Coats: Should be a plain dark colour – not denim or leather - badges, other than the school badge, studs or other adornments are not acceptable. Outdoor coats should not be worn in classrooms or the dining room.
Scarves/Hats - Scarves should be plain, dark colour - not a football scarf. Plain woollen hats are allowed but not baseball caps. Biddenham logo woollen hats are also available to purchase.
Shoes – Boots and trainers are not allowed under any circumstances. No leather trainers e.g. Nike Airforce are allowed.
Makeup and Hair:
Students should avoid excessive jewellery and make-up. A wrist watch, one bracelet, a neck chain (worn under a shirt), one simple stud ear-ring in each pierced ear and a small nose stud are acceptable. The school advises against all other forms of body piercing because of the health and safety implications i.e. all jewellery must be removed for PE/Games activities and, where appropriate, other lessons.
Hair must be of a natural colour.

Orders over £75 are delivered to your home free of charge.
Returns Procedure:
There is a 28 day returns policy.

Equipment Requirements
Minimum equipment requirements for all students:
- School bag (handbags/man bags not appropriate)
- Planner (provided by the school)
- Reading book (available from library)
- School books for the day
- Charged Chromebook
- Pencil case containing: selection of writing pens, pencils, rubber, ruler, compass, protractor, pencil crayons, pencil sharpener, scientific calculator.
Mobile Phones:
Please read our letter to Parents and Carers
- Mobile phones are allowed in school for the acknowledged safety and contact reasons, (before and after the school day only – contact during the school day for any urgent communication should be through the school office on 01234 342521).
- Mobile phones and headphones MUST be kept in a bag during the school day and not visible, (this includes charging phones during lessons, phones out on the desks, or phones visible in pockets where they can distract students during lessons).
- Mobile phones must be switched off or on silent before the lesson starts and before entering the classroom (not on vibrate which can distract students during lessons).
- Students will not be allowed to listen to music during lesson time.
- Mobile phones during lunchtimes and break times are not to be out or visible.
