At Biddenham School, we are dedicated to preparing every student for success in the modern world through our comprehensive Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme.
Integrated into our Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education curriculum, this initiative ensures that all students, from years 7 to 13, are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate their future pathways.
Our careers programme is tailored to each key stage, allowing students to make informed decisions about their futures. From option choices in key stage 4 to post-16 and post-18 opportunities, we encourage our students to aspire to their fullest potential.
In line with government guidance, we provide independent, impartial careers advice to all students in years 7-13. This guidance explores a wide range of educational and training options - including apprenticeships and vocational pathways - ensuring that students can make choices that are in their best interests. This advice is carried out by Level 6 trained advisers who are on the Register of Career Development Professionals.
We take careers and employability seriously, recognising the significant decisions our students face after year 11 and beyond. It is our goal to ensure that 100% of students will meet the government expectation post 16 by selecting one of the education/training options available to them.
With numerous pathways available, such as sixth form, college, university, traineeships, apprenticeships, and employment, our Careers Department is here to support students, parents, and carers in making well-informed choices.
Students at Biddenham have access to a wealth of resources throughout their educational journey, including the Unifrog careers platform, alumni visits, employer-led assemblies, career insight talks, a dedicated careers library, and mock interviews. We also host events like STEM fairs and careers fairs, providing opportunities for workplace visits and direct engagement with local employers.
Through these initiatives, we aim to empower our students to develop essential employability and career management skills that allow them to embrace their career aspirations, fostering a generation ready to thrive in their chosen paths.
