‘Developing the Whole Child’

At Biddenham we continually prioritise developing the whole child, and with this in mind, in addition to the core curriculum, we provide a wide range of additional and new opportunities for students. Below is an example of what is available as part of the wider curriculum.

To promote the development of confidence and for key stage 4 readiness, we have additional subjects that are explored at key stage 3, to help every student build confidence and find their element. These subjects are also supported by the core curriculum and are delivered during normal school hours, something that may not be experienced as an explicit lesson in any of the other local schools. These are:

Oracy
Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE)
Project Based Learning (PBL)

In order for students to gain a rich curriculum experience, we also offer subjects on rotation every half term:

Computer Science
Dance
Design and Technology
Drama

Food Preparation and Nutrition
Information Technology
Visual Arts

Extra Curricular Activities

Students are encouraged to take part in a variety of extra curricular activities.

Below are just a few on offer:

Nurture groups at lunchtime
School productions
Student Forum
Student Mentors
Super Learning Days
Range of sports clubs, incorporating fixtures and tournaments.
Lunchtime and After School Clubs - these include Computing, Languages, STEM Club, Art, Natural History, to name a few.
