Year 11 Black History Walk

2nd March 2023

Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to inform you that we have an exciting opportunity for the Year 11 History students to

experience a workshop with Black History Walks (https://blackhistorywalks.co.uk/) on Tuesday 7th  March. The workshop will focus on Migrants in Britain in the 20th century and specifically the Notting Hill element of their exam content and this will help our students with their exam knowledge while also providing them with a fun opportunity to reinforce their learning in the classroom. Black History Walks is an organisation that has worked extensively with exam boards to provide content for the textbooks and revision guides for this topic so we are lucky to have them come work with us.

This workshop will run from 8.55am – 12.00pm. The students will need to be on time on Tuesday so please encourage punctuality. The session will take place in the main hall. Students will miss out on break, so some light refreshments will be provided. Students are expected to attend the workshop in school uniform as they will be going onto period 4 and 5 as normal. Students will be responsible for making up any missed work from their other lessons, including PSHE.

The cost of the workshop has been covered by the school so students do not need to pay.

If you have any further questions please email me.

Yours sincerely,

MRS R VAUGHAN

Head of History
