Psychology and Sociology

Department Information

The department offers a range of post-16 courses for both the level 2 and level 3 curriculums. Each course offers seven timetabled lessons per fortnight, equivalent to 8 and ¾ hours and students are expected in addition to work independently beyond the lesson time. Independent work would typically involve research, note-taking, exam practice, revision and on-line assessments. The department also utilises iPads and apps as well as sharing of resources and information via private Twitter feeds and Google Classroom to encourage engagement with both learning and technology.

Educational talks and visits are key feature of the department. This includes the A2 Sociologists visit the Panacea Society’s Museum as part of their Beliefs in Society unit.
