Our students achieved 59% grade A* to C in June 2016. Twelve students achieved a grade A* and a further 13 achieved grade A. As a department, we are making steady progress with our results.

Information about the Department

We are a friendly and open department, who are passionate about our students’ achievement. We have 6 classrooms, all equipped with interactive whiteboards.

Students are taught the GCSE syllabus from year 9 (one year early). This allows students to have a greater exposure to the topics tested in year 11. Lessons are delivered in levelled classrooms to ensure that students are appropriately challenged and can be confident in understanding the content.

Currently, students in year 11 also have the opportunity to gain a level 2 further qualification in Maths.

As a department we offer additional classes to help students achieve their potential. After school concept catch-up sessions and daily homework club are available to all. We also deliver targeted support to students in year 11 who are on the 3/4 borderline.

Trips are also conducted over the course of the academic year to the Centre for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge.
